Blue diamond sets auction record price

A rare vivid blue diamond ring has been sold for nearly US$8 million at Sotheby's in Hong Kong. The sale sets a new per carat record price for any gemstone sold at auction.
The ring weighs over six carats and is shaped in an emerald cut. Only the world's purest diamonds can be cut like this.
