The Urumqi High-speed Railway Comprehensive Service Center, currently under construction, has begun the installation of glass walls, Xinjiang Daily reported on Oct 4.
The new service center, located at Urumqi Railway Station's North Square in the Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District), is expected to open for operations next year to promote transportation, logistics, tourism and trade development throughout the Xinjiang region.
The project is approximately 70 percent complete, and workers will soon begin interior construction, according to Pan Zhenxue, director of Zhuoyue Supervision Co Ltd, the company in charge of supervising the construction of the service center.
Bao Hui, an engineer at Urumqi High-speed Railway Hub Comprehensive Development & Construction Investment Co Ltd, said the center will integrate catering, shopping and recreation, in addition to railway travel services, once completed.
