The Institute of Applied Ecology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, is hosting a science festival from Oct 22 to Nov 3 -- marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Themed around protecting the environment, the festival includes such activities as science popularizing exhibitions, science reports, making specimens and art exhibitions.

Children from the kindergarten affiliated to the institute are being invited to participate in the event, to experience the fascination of science and enhance parent-child relationships through the activities.

The activities will also help people to get to know about the development of China’s sciences and the achievements of the Shenyang institute, according to officials.
