The 2019 Shenyang Art Festival kicked off in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Sept 20.

The festival is being hosted by the Shenyang publicity department and the Shenyang culture, tourism, radio and television bureau.

More than 100 performances will be held during the festival, including operas, dramas, acrobatics, singing, dancing, orchestra concerts, and magic shows.

A visual arts exhibition also opened the same day. The exhibition is divided into four sections: one for architecture and plastic arts, one for more than 500 historical documents recording Shenyang’s history, one for photographs showcasing Shenyang’s development over the past seven decades, and one for Shenyang’s industrial manufacturing technology.

Guan Ronghui, director of the Shenyang culture, tourism, radio and television bureau, said that the festival will showcase Shenyang’s cultural and art sectors, and the city hopes to develop the festival into a nationally and globally influential art event.

This year’s festival will run until Oct 30.
