Founded in 1906, Shandong Agricultural University is jointly constructed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the State Administration of Forestry and Grassland, and the Shandong provincial government. It has been honored with 25 national-level scientific and technological awards and some 380 provincial-level ones.

There are roads on the university campus planted with ginkgo trees on both sides, which form a fine view during the period of late October and early November when the ginkgo leaves turn golden.
