A new course designed to show people the art of making polished lacquer ware and lacquer-coating techniques opened in Pingyao county on June 9.
The program aims to improve the skills of local craftspeople that make polished lacquer ware. During the initial class, despite showing new techniques to attendees, the course instructors affirmed the importance of traditional techniques while also promoting sustainable development of the art form. Throughout the program, course attendees will also be encouraged to come up with innovate new ways of producing their lacquer ware.
A total of 30 trainees have joined the five-month training session and will be able to attend various themed events such as seminars, exhibitions and lectures as part of the course.
