A road is lined with festive lanterns in various shapes in Hengqu village, Taiyuan city, Shanxi province, Feb 28. Known as the hometown of festive lantern arts, the economy of Hengqu village –– which has more than 300 households –– has been reliant on festive lanterns since the 1980s. As customized festive lantern making and e-commerce has grown in recent years, the sales channels for the village’s lanterns have greatly expanded.
