Houma county in Shanxi province is going to build a China Craft Town, aiming to provide a platform for showcasing traditional Chinese crafts and building a regional base for emerging industries.
The craft town project based on culture and arts, food, and health care industries is expected to attract investment of 3.68 billion yuan ($555.33 million).
The China Craft Town covering an area of 3.5 square kilometers will consist of three blocks, namely China Handicraft Street, International Creative Product Boutique Street and Intangible Culture-Themed Street.
The China Handicraft Street will be built into a Shanxi traditional culture-themed travel block along the abandoned railway in the urban district of Houma. The International Creative Product Boutique Street with Jinmao International Commercial Building as the landmark aims to be a cultural block integrating handicraft exhibition, 3D printing, animation design and education. The Intangible Culture-Themed Street will fully be commited to promoting and protecting Chinese intangible culture.
In addition, an e-commerce operation group for the China Craft Town will be set up based on woodsy.com, an online platform for showing and promoting Chinese craft, and Shanxi Tourism Cloud Platform, to facilitate the delivery of online and offline logistics and crafts.
