North China's Shanxi province continued steady economic growth during 2016 with its GDP hitting 1.29 trillion yuan ($188.05 billion).
The figure represented year-on-year growth of 4.5 percent, 0.5 percentage points higher than that of the first three quarters of 2016.
Due to the industrial transformation, the added value of industrial companies whose annual revenue exceeds 20 million yuan has been rising since October, following 21 months of recession.
As for different industries, the added value of nine industries including electricity and equipment manufacturing maintained growth, while three sectors, such as coal and chemicals, declined in added value compared with the figures in 2015.
The grain output hit 13.19 billion kilograms, realizing year-on-year growth of 4.7 percent. The yield per mu (0.07 hectares), which amounted to 271.2 kilograms, set a new record.
