The southern French region of Provence established a Europe-Chinese Culture Exhibition Center, on Oct 25, after signing an agreement with China's Pingyao county, in Shanxi province, on a sister city relationship.

The center is the work of the Charles De Gaulle Foundation, the Provence government, and the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Society's National Heritage Tourism Research Committee, with cooperation by the cultural section of China’s embassy in France. It is considered an important channel for cultural and economic exchanges between China and Europe.

Provence is known as the City of Knight in Europe and the place where the knight lyric originated. Having quality wine produced，the world-renowned home of lavender and a popular tourist attraction and Pingyao and Provence have plans to launch various related activities after the sister–city agreement goes through.
