Registration for the 2013 Taiyuan International Marathon, which begins on Sept 28, is underway, the organizing committee announced on July 21.

The number of competitors is being limited to 30,000, with both on-site and online registration available for individuals and groups. The deadline is Sept 13.

The Taiyuan marathon is approved by the Asian IAAF and China’s General Sports Administration and is organized by the Chinese Athletic Association, Shanxi provincial sports administration, Taiyuan municipal government, and Taiyuan sports bureau. It has been held three times, since 2010, and has become an important international sports event at the provincial level.

The organizing committee has reported that it includes men's and women's full marathon (42.195km), men's and women's half-marathon (21.0975km), and a mini-marathon (4.2195km). The full marathon begins in Wiyi Square and finishes in the Shanxi Olympic Sports Center's stadium.
