Xiajiang village, located in urban Jincheng of Shanxi province, will travel to Frankfurt, Germany in early June to participate in the German Choir Festival.

The invitation came from the organizing committee of the German International Choir Festival. The year 2012 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany. The Ministry of Culture of German Federal Republic and the German Choral Association took the occasion to invite 10 artistic troupes from China to take part in the festival for the first time, among which, Xiajiang village’s Taihang Sunshine Chorus is the only folk chorus being invited.

The chorus will perform repertoires including On the Taihang Mountain, A Night In The Great Desert and Zezhou Gushu.

Wang Quanhui, founder of the chorus, said they will seize the opportunity to provide the audience with the most excellent performance and proudly represent Shanxi and China.

The German Choir Festival is the largest and a very prestigious choir festival, attracting the most viewers in the world.
