POWERCHINA Signs Two More Contracts for Overseas Projects

The Sinohydro Group, a POWERCHINA's subsidiary, has signed two contracts recently, with a total amount of $4 billion, including an EPC contract for the Bintulu OM ferro-alloys smelter in Malaysia and a construction contract for the Olympic Athletes Village in the Republic of Congo.

The Bintulu OM ferroalloys smelter in Sarawak, Malaysia, is an important contract for Sinohydro because it was an indicator that Sinohydro began an operation in a new industry, and it is also the first large-size EPC project for Sinohydro in the Samara Industrial Zone, and the company’s another grand move after Bukun Hydropower Station in Malaysia. The project is designed to produce annually 600,000 tons of ferrosilicon and ferromanganese, ranking top in the world in terms of scale and production capacity. The contract Amount is $300 million, with construction duration of 30 months.

The Olympic Athletes’ village in Republic Congo is the first project gained in 2013 by Sinohydro’s African branch. The village shall provide accommodations for referees and athletes at 2015 African Games and is an important project to show the national image of Congo. The project, about 20km to Brazzaville city, will be constructed by B13 of Sinohydro, to complete 6 four-storied frame-structural dormitory buildings.
