China farm produce regional public brand value assessment group, affiliated to the information center of Ministry of Agriculture, has issued an evaluation report, saying the “Dandong azalea” brand values 163 million yuan.
Azaleas, city flower of Dandong, have been planted in the city for a long history. It has six color systems with 270 varieties. The city has applied for the Internet domain name "Dandong Azalea" and set up a platform for internal cooperation and external communication. "Dandong Azalea" has won a certificate of registration for farm produce geographical indication of People’s Republic of China. The brand has been put under legal protection.
