Northeast Chinese city working with Russia in the optical business

The city of Changchun, Jilin province established a partnership with the Russian Optical Society, at the Wuhan International Optoelectronic Exposition, in Wuhan, Hunbei province, on Nov 6, to cooperate in training and in establishing an optical industrial park.
Changchun plans to bring laser technology to the high-tech Jingyue National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, with the idea of promoting the use of lasers.
In commenting on the move, a Changchun’s officials said, "Optics is a leading industry in Russia, and the Optical Society works with 80 percent of the nation’s optics businesses or organizations. So we want to work with them for better laser technology."
The high-tech park has already attracted many international hi-tech companies or joint-ventures since 2011.
