The Suzhou municipal tourism bureau released a Suzhou tourist map on October 16 that includes many tourist tips, helping tourists enjoy their time in Suzhou. Tourists can get the map for free in the tourist information center.

Compared to the former edition of the Suzhou tourist map, the new edition breaks the restriction of showing only traditional administrative areas. The map is divided into the old town district, Pingjiang, Shantang, Jinji Lake, Taihu Lake, Yangcheng Lake, Yushanshang Lake, Zhouzhuang ancient town and Tongli ancient town, in accordance with popular tourist destinations.

On every region of the map, transportation routes are outlined, threading through places for dining, traveling, shopping, sleeping and entertainment. For example, on the Yangcheng Lake region, the map highlights the restaurants for hairy crab. In the ancient town region, it highlights Fenghuang Street for its delicious food and Pingjiang Road for its special stores Tourists just need to travel according to the map to find good places to deeply experience Suzhou.

The other feature of the new map is its information service. The map lists the information of tourist information centers, tourist resorts, hotels and travel agencies as well as the telephone numbers of time-honored restaurants and medical care centers.

Suzhou has published 100,000 Suzhou tourist maps. The municipal tourism department plans to develop e-maps next.
