Ru porcelain, on behalf of Henan province, will be exhibited at the 3rd National Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will be held from May 29 to June 11 in Chengdu, Sichuan province.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture and the Sichuan government and UNESCO, the biannual festival was previously held in 2007 and 2009.

At the festival, some other national or provincial intangible cultural heritage items of Henan province, such as woodblock New Year pictures, Zhenping jade sculpture, palace lantern of Luoyang, embroideries of Bianzhou, and tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty are also on display.

About Ru porcelain: Ru porcelain, a kind of famous porcelain in China, maintains the city’s importance in the history of Chinese ceramics. The porcelain produced for royal use only once disappeared in more than 800 years due to war, while the pottery is constantly renewed and developed. Ru porcelain ranks highest among the five most famous kinds of porcelain in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It was declared a national intangible cultural heritage item by the state in 2009.
