A container train recently passed through the Xixia County Railway Station in Nanyang, Henan province, preparing for the opening of the Nanjing-Xi'an New Double-line Railway at the end of the year.

The journey from Nanjing, Jiangsu province to Xi'an, Shaanxi province will be shortened to 10 hours.

The Nanjing-Xi'an Railway is a single line rail with low speed. Construction of the Nanjing-Xi'an New Double-line Railway started in 2012, spanning five provinces including Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, Anhui and Jiangsu.

The whole length is 1,086 kilometers and the design speed reaches 160 km/h. With a preliminary estimate of 30.24 billion yuan ($4.74 billion) investment, the railway has a construction period of 3.5 years.
