The finals of the 2019 Guiyang Open Data Innovation Competition was held at Guizhou Normal University in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province, on Nov 29.
The competition, which was hosted by the Guiyang Information Industry Development Center and Guizhou Normal University, aimed to provide a platform for big data technicians and university students to showcase big data applications. More than 100 teams signed up at the contest's official website since registration started on Oct 21.
Teams that participated in the contest used data collected from the Guiyang Open Government Data Platform (http://www.gyopendata.gov.cn) to design smart product prototypes or solutions involving people's livelihoods, environmental protection, transportation, city management, and public safety.
A total of 22 teams entered the finals, which consisted of competitions among professional technicians, Chinese students, and overseas students. The team from the technology center of Shanghai-based SAIC Motor Corp Ltd and the team from Guizhou University won first prize of the professional group and Chinese student group respectively.
