The musical play Ga Lao of the Dong ethnic group was performed in Beijing on Sept 3.
The play was performed by the Guizhou delegation of the 5th Minorities Art Festival of China, which is being held from Aug 16 to Sept 14.
Ga Lao is also the general name for songs belonging to the Dong people. The story is comprised of five parts and tells of two young people – Su Yun and Chun Xiao – who find a way to learn ethnic songs. Through dance, music, stage design, lights and costumes, the story presents the charm of Dong songs to the audience.
