The Global Big Data Exchange in the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province has done up to 60-million yuan ($9.27 million) in business in the last year, thanks to the province's emphasis on developing big data, and the setting up of a complete industrial chain.
The exchange, founded on Dec 31, 2014, is the world's first of its kind and has 10pb of data from more than 100 enterprises. It handles government accounts of Guiyang, as well as the cities of Suzhou in Jiangsu province, Wuhan in Hubei province, and the Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
More governments are expected to open accounts in the future to make it a government data center.
