Anshun will build 18 nursing homes under the direction of the Guizhou Provincial Civil Affairs Department. Fourteen of them are under construction now. Once completed, 1,625 beds will be available for the elderly.
Nursing homes are in high demand in Anshun, Guizhou province. According to 2012 statistics, the proportion of elderly citizens has reached 14 percent, with 334,900 citizens over 60 years old, and 218,114 over 65. The proportion is 2 percent higher than an average aging society.
The nursing homes in Huohua village, Ziyun county, is already 60 percent complete. The Shuitang county nursing home is 30 percent finished. But the majority of nursing home under construction is only 5 percent complete, including the Xixiu district central nursing home.
The nursing home in Pogong town, Guanlin county, is now accepting bids after its geological examination has been completed.
Construction has not yet started for three gerocomiums, including the central nursing home of Guanlin county, the central nursing home of Ziyun county, and the four main villages’ nursing home in Ziyun county.
