Investment in the development of transportation infrastructure in Hechi exceeded 20 billion yuan ($3.09 billion) in 2020, making it the most important driver of high-quality economic growth in the city.

The annual target for investment in Hechi's road-building, as released by the Guangxi Transportation Department, was 19 billion in 2020, and the annual investment target for the Hechi section of Guiyang-Nanning high-speed railway, as released by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and China Railway, reached 3 billion yuan.

The city saw an overall investment of 25.06 billion yuan in transportation construction over the year, an all-time high, while 21.73 billion yuan of this total was invested in building roads.
