To contribute to the county's city civilization construction, towns and villages in Pingtan, Fujian province recently started working on improving their cultural centers, which is to create a better cultural environment for local residents, according to ptnet.cn on Dec 14.

The upgraded center includes reading rooms, multimedia rooms, playrooms and sports room among others. All these serve as important cultural facilities in towns and villages.

Authorities of Pingtan's Aodong town relocated and expanded its cultural center to meet residents' demands. The new center covers a total floor area of over 500 square meters and offers areas for reading, entertainment, sports and training. It also houses outdoor sports facilities such as tennis and basketball courts.

Baiqing village added more than 1,300 books on agriculture, fishery, poultry breeding and other fields in its cultural center. According to officials, local residents mainly live on fishery, so authorities often invite experts at the center to give lectures on skill training on such topics.
