Despite the landing of Typhoon Fanapi, the opening ceremony of the 5th Special Olympics was presented a full version as scheduled in Fuzhou, capital city of Fujian province on Monday.

In the first chapter of the ceremony themed “My Home”, the popular film star Zhang Ziyi came up on stage hand in hand with a child with learning difficulties. Zhang as the global image ambassador of the Special Olympics gave her speech, encouraging all the people who participate in the Games.
“As the global image ambassador, I have witnessed those disabled athletes’ efforts (in pursuing the Olympic spirit). Here I'd like to express my respect to all the attendants.” She said.
“I was deeply touched by their spirits, which set us good examples. I'm so proud of them, I hope the Special Olympics will achieve a great success.” She added.
Zhang eventually expressed her regards to the athletes' parents and coaches, and all elses who are devoted to help the disabled.
