Businessmen and investors from economies involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are set to explore the opportunities made available at the forthcoming 2018 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which is being held in Xiamen, Fujian province, from Sept 8 to 11.

As well as the pavilions of traditional industries, this year’s event will also see the presence of emerging industries, including smart cities, social media, intelligent transport and copyright.

More than 100,000 businesspeople from over 110 different countries and regions are expected to attend this year’s event.

Meanwhile, an array of forums and matchmaking activities will also be held during the fair, where exhibitors will explore potential cooperation and facilitate two-way investment.

After 20 years’ development, the CIFIT has now grown into an important promotional platform for China to bring foreign direct investment and go global.

In 2017, the fair facilitated the signing of 1,577 investment projects worth 532.7 billion yuan ($76.82 billion) and drew more than 100,000 representatives from 107 countries and regions.
