Nearly 1,000 winter swimming enthusiasts from 30 teams from both sides of the Taiwan Strait took part in the 17th Spring Festival Cross-Strait Winter Swimming event on February 24. |
On the afternoon of February 24, at the sea area near the signboard of "One Country, Two Systems" on Xiamen's scenic Huandao Road, nearly 1,000 winter swimming enthusiasts from 30 teams from both sides of the Taiwan Strait took part in the 17th Spring Festival Cross-Strait Winter Swimming event.
First held in 1999, the winter swimming activity has now become an annual festival for winter swimming lovers and has attracted a large amount of competitors from both sides of the Strait every year. This year, nearly 100 swimming lovers from Taiwan attended the event, including some dispatched by the Chinese Taibei Adult Swimming Association, the Kinmen Government, and the Education Department of Kinmen County.
With a race route of 600 meters, the main goal of the winter swimming event is to create a chance for participators to share skills and their love for swimming.
