The 16th Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade, an influential event for promoting the flow of investment between Taiwan and the mainland, is being held in Fuzhou, Fujian province.

Held annually on May 18, the fair, which will run until May 22, attracted more than 1,000 participants from 23 countries. More than 600 Taiwan companies are participating in this year’s event.

The exhibition has 10 sections involving such themes as cross-Straits tourism culture, specialties and snacks from Taiwan, and machinery and electronics.

The Maritime Silk Road Area, a highlight of this year’s fair, displays the past glory of the sea route from ports in Fujian to overseas markets that have traded in China’s silk, ceramics and teas.
