China-Russian Hunchun Highway Port received 350,000 visitors from January to mid-November, up 50 percent year-on-year, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Hunchun Port, 15 kilometers away from the Northeast China border city, has seen a surge of inbound and outbound visitors in recent years due to closer trade relations between China and Russia.

Luo Gongjun, a senior official from the Hunchun Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said his office has improved efficiency of inspection with the increased number of inbound and outbound travelers and goods.

"We have to work extra hours at peak times to ensure that passengers' customs clearance goes on smoothly," Luo said.

 The inbound and outbound travelers reached 4,000 on a daily basis during the week-long National Day holiday.
