A Chinese production of the British musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will be staged by the Shanghai Xiandairen Theater Company.

The play is based on the true story of a murderous 19th-century barber, who returns to London after unjust imprisonment. He seeks revenge, first on the corrupt judge who sentenced him and then on whoever enters his barbershop.
