A recent seminar on the "productive protection" of intangible cultural heritage brought together policymakers, folk craftspeople and experts in Beijing.

Productive protection refers to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage through cultural commodification. Participating craftspeople came from the trades of embroidery, ceramics and thangka (Tibetan religious scroll painting).

At the seminar, representatives discussed topics related to the authenticity of folk artifacts, the promotion of the products and the role of governmental policy in encouraging intangible cultural heritage's preservation.

The seminar took place on the sidelines of the Exhibition of Achievements on the Productive Protection of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage.
