Lu Jinbo, publisher of the book, confirmed that it was Han's own idea to sell the adaptation rights to Kwan. And Lu thinks that it's a wise decision. "There are many classic words in the novel, which will be welcomed by today's young people, especially when a movie version comes out," Lu said.

"His Kingdom" was published in 2008. It tells a fantasy story about a young man from a small town in China. Just like every young man, Zuo Xiaolong has his own dream and a girl he loves deeply. He works hard to realize his dream but is always defeated by the reality. The book was regarded as a biography of Han Han himself. However, Lu denied such a possibility that Han would star in the film.

Besides "His Kingdom", another two of Han's books, "Riot in Chang'an City" ("Chang'an Luan") and "Glory Days" ("Guang Rong Ri"), will also be adapted into movies this year.
