Parents sell house to pay off daughter's debt

Updated: 2009-07-22 13:26 A sales girl in Shanghai has run up credit card bills of more than 1 million yuan ($146,394) buying luxurious cosmetics and clothes over the past three years. The girl has used up nearly 100 credit cards, some borrowed from her relatives and friends, to pay up money on one with another. Her friends and colleagues decided to call the cops to force her to stop using credit cards. Cops urged her to repay the amount she's used or else face justice. The girl's parents had to sell off their apartment in downtown Shanghai to save her from going to jail. (Oriental Morning Post) |
