The People's Bank of China is confident of hitting the government's 3 percent year-average target for consumer inflation this year, Du Jinfu, a central bank vice-governor, said on Monday.

Although inflation is easing, Du cautioned that uncertainties persisted, including the impact of this summer's grain harvest.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a financial forum organised by the British embassy.
