A micro-film refers to a short film made with minimal budget and played on various new media platforms. Micro-films have become popular in China with the development of the Internet and social media.

Competitors at the Binhai International Micro-Film Festival may upload their works until Sept 30. All the films will be shown on the official website and spectators may vote for their favorite films. The results will be announced by the end of the year.

The festival is sponsored by the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, an economic development zone which plans to develop the creative industry.
