Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan is taking shooting lessons ahead of her trip to war-torn Iraq.

The movie actress, 20, actress will be visiting Iraq on Dec 6, to entertain the US troops deployed there, and claims knowing how to handle a gun is essential before that.

"I'm not afraid of going. My security guard is going to take me to a gun range and I'm going to take some shooting lessons," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling the British edition of Elle magazine.

"He says if I'm going to go there I should really know how to shoot," she added.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has publicly warned that Iraq is close to civil war and called for drastic action to halt the spiraling violence.
