A Texan man has blamed a bird for making him drive his million-dollar sports car into a pond.
The police explained that a low-flying pelican distracted the motorist, causing him to veer off the road in his Bugatti Veyron and into a salt marsh.
Lieutenant Greg Gilchrist from the La Marque force revealed that the man dropped his phone after the bird swooped into his line of vision.
As the driver reached down to pick up his mobile, he strayed into the water at the side of the road.
Lieutenant Gilchrist said that he did not know if the car could be salvaged, but added: "Salt water isn't good for anything."
