LISBON -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here on Friday with Portuguese parliament president Jaime Gama.

Wen arrived here earlier Friday for a two-day official visit.

During the meeting, Wen said there is no pendent problems between China and Portugal after the Macao issue was successfully settled, and the Sino-Portuguese relations have maintained good momentum in recent years.

While lauding fruitful bilateral cooperation in various fields, the premier said he will discuss with Portuguese leaders about how to further promote the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Wen said both China's National People's Congress (NPC) and the Portuguese parliament have played an important role in the political life of both countries, and they have injected new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.

He hoped that NPC and Portuguese parliament would enhance exchange and cooperation, and contribute more to the all-around development of Sino-Portuguese relations.

Gama, on his part, said Portuguese parties all support the Portuguese government to develop friendly relations with China, and the Portuguese parliament will continue to back the cooperation in various fields.

The Portugal-China political relations are very good, said Gama, noting that both sides should put more focus on economic cooperation, especially on expanding investment and trade.
