Network linkage to check on bigamy

The Guangzhou municipal government plans to link up the marriage registration computer systems at city, district and county levels this year to better check for crimes such as bigamy, reports New News Express.

The system will be linked to the residency administration network of the public security bureaus in the city.

Procedures for marriage registration were further relaxed in China last October; and some people have committed bigamy by taking the advantage of the lack of linkage of systems at various levels in Guangzhou.
