Debtor injures himself to evade creditors

A man in Dunhua of Jilin Province injured himself and reported a fake robbery to police in a bid to delay payment on his overdue debt, New Culture News reports.

Gen's wife rushed to local police on Sunday, saying her husband was robbed of 7,600 yuan (US$910) near their home and that he fell into a coma after fighting with the robber.

After being taken to a local hospital, Gen needed three stitches for injuries on the head.

But during investigations, police found holes in his story and Gen confessed that the injuries were self-inflicted to evade creditors.
