The export volume of China's IT (information technology) products is expected to reach US$200 billion this year, sources with the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) said on December 17.

By the end of October this year, the export volume of IT products stood at US$161.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 47.1 percent, the MII said at a working conference on China's IT industry development in 2005 held in Hangzhou of East China's Zhejiang Province.

The total export and import volume of IT products totaled US$308.1 billion from January to October, up 43.4 percent year-on-year. IT products also had a registered trade surplus of US$14.7 billion, the MII said.

In 2004, the sales volume of China's IT industry is expected to reach 2.5 trillion yuan (US$301.9 billion), up 33 percent year-on-year. Its industrial added-value is expected to reach 550 billion yuan (US$66.4 billion US), up 37.5 percent.
