The prizes for Calligraphy China were awarded to 163 people from different parts of the country on?Dec?3?in Beijing.

Organized by China Publishing Group, the competition received more than 23,000 calligraphy works since it started in September last year. The submission process was totally online.

The participants came from all walks of life — schoolchildren, retirees, office workers and disabled people, said Lin Yang, the editor-in-chief of People's Fine Arts Publishing House, a co-organizer of the contest.

"The vitality of Chinese calligraphy showed in their participation," Lin said.

The winning entries are on public display at the People's Fine Arts Publishing House in Beijing's Shuangjing area.
