China's participation at the festival will be impressive in both quantity and quality. From troupes to universities, from children to adults, and from classics to pilots, Chinese artists present the best shows, said cultural counsellor Xiang Xiaowei from China's embassy in the UK.

The 2016 Edinburgh Festival will specifically launch a Shanghai Culture Week, to solidify the relationship between the two cities.

The annual Edinburgh Festival is a world-famous large-scale art festival, consisting of many independent festivals such as Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
