The crossover between classical and experimental music has gone far beyond the goal of bringing in new audiences. The recomposition is actually the deconstruction of the classical pieces, and the process reflects a contemporary understanding of Chopin's creativity, Song says.

The third concert of the series, which will be held on March 25, will show how the cello and ballet work together.

Directed by Xin Lili, head of Shanghai Ballet, the show is being created by choreographers Xie Xin and Dong Jie alongside dancers like Wu Husheng, Zhang Yao and cellist Chen Weiping.

"While dancers express themselves through their movements, musicians tell their stories through sound," Xin says. "Let's look forward to the chemistry between the two sides."
