The ceremony to worship Sima Qian was held in Hancheng, Shaanxi province, Sima Qian's native place on March 29. Thousands of people from both home and abroad, including descendants of Sima Qian, experts and scholars and tourists gathered to honor his memory. Sima Qian, was a Chinese historian of the Western Han Dynasty (206BC-25AD). He is considered the father of Chinese historiography for his work, the Records of the Grand Historian.
