Renowned Chinese female director Ann Hui will serve as the president jury of the Orizzonti section of the festival. Hui's latest film, Golden Era, will close the festival on Sept 6. It is an account of the life of Chinese female writer Xiao Hong, played by newlywed actress Tang Wei. The film is scheduled to open in China on Oct 1.

Hong Kong veteran actress Deanie Ip took home the Volci Cup for Best Actress in 2011 for her role as a housekeeper in A Simple Life, also directed by Ann Hui.
