Moves made to ease Ferguson tensions

By Agencies in Ferguson, Missouri | China Daily | Updated: 2015-03-14 08:19

Police, political leaders and civil rights activists sought to reduce tensions after two police officers were shot in front of the police department during a protest in Ferguson, which has become a symbol of tensions between police and African Americans.

US President Barack Obama said those responsible must be brought to justice.

"There was no excuse for criminal acts, and whoever fired those shots shouldn't detract from the issue. They're criminals. They need to be arrested," Obama said.
