China welcomes progress on syrian weapons issue
China welcomes the Syrian government's submission of a plan for destroying its chemical weapons to a global watchdog, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Monday.
Hua Chunying, the spokeswoman, said that the plan, which was submitted to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons on Sunday, is further progress on the Syrian chemical weapons problem.
China supports the organization's positive role in the destruction and verification of Syrian chemical weapons, she said.
China will actively participate in work and discussions to promote effective implementation of the decision of the organization's Executive Council, she added.
