Galatasaray midfielder Hamit Altintop said the Turkish league leader is delighted to be in the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2001 after knocking Schalke 04 out.

Galatasaray reached the quarterfinals as a last-minute goal from substitute forward Umut Bulut sealed a 3-2 win at Schalke 04 on Tuesday, giving it a 4-3 win on aggregate.

Schalke failed in its bid to join Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals, while Galatasaray star Altintop, who was born in Gelsenkirchen, grabbed the visitor's opening goal with a superb shot.
