Human rights progress

By Liu Jie | China Daily | Updated: 2012-05-21 08:07

Priority of the largest developing country is striving to get rid of poverty and make life better for all residents

In the recently issued "Human Rights and Democracy: the 2011 Foreign and Commonwealth Report", the United Kingdom once again accused China of the "use of unlawful and arbitrary measures to target activists" and other activities. It concluded that "China's progress on civil and political rights has stalled".

Such an absurd conclusion is obviously a product of political prejudices instead of facts, and would be unacceptable to any state that is promoting human rights.
